Dr Favre-Bulle has more than 20 years of experience in dispute resolution (arbitration as counsel or arbitrator, ADR, court litigation). He has been involved in over 200 arbitrations - for example, sales agreements, agency and distribution, licences, joint ventures, shareholders agreements, post-M&A disputes, etc, in various business industries such as telecommunications, pharmaceuticals, banking, energy, construction, luxury goods, sports (in particular before the Court of Arbitration for Sport), etc. At Lenz & Staehelin in Geneva, Xavier Favre-Bulle leads the arbitration group and the sports law sector. He is a frequent speaker at conferences and the author of some 60 books and articles.

Xavier Favre-Bulle is a member of the International Association of Lawyers (UIA) governing board, the current president of the Sports Law Commission, a member of the ADR commission of the Geneva Bar Association and an associate member of the ICC Institute of World Business Law. He is a lecturer in the master's programme on "arbitration and international business law" at the University of Versailles and the LLM on international sports law at the University of Zurich. Xavier Favre-Bulle is the former president of the International Arbitration Commission, a former member of the arbitration committee of the Geneva Chamber of Commerce and Industry (2002–2012), and the arbitration committee and special committee of the Swiss Chambers of Commerce (2004–2012). He speaks French, English and German.

Xavier Favre-Bulle was a visiting foreign lawyer with a major London firm in 1999. He was admitted to the Geneva Bar in 1996 and as a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales in 2000. Xavier Favre-Bulle joined Lenz & Staehelin in 1994 and has been a partner since 2003.
