Valentine Chessa has a wealth of experience appearing before the main arbitral institutions and is praised for her “open-minded approach”.
Valentine Chessa has been practising in the international arbitration team of CastaldiPartners since 2010. In 2016, she became a partner. Her practice focuses on international arbitration, both ad hoc and institutional, before the main arbitration institutions (the ICC, the LCIA, the SCC, CAM, etc). Valentine acts as counsel and arbitrator in a wide range of matters, including large construction and engineering projects.
Recent examples of Valentine’s expertise in construction matters include representing: a multinational company in an ICC arbitration in a construction dispute against a subcontractor over the construction of an urea plant; and a multinational company in an ICC arbitration in a construction dispute against the employer over the construction of a gas plant.
Before joining CastaldiPartners, Valentine Chessa worked at the Secretariat of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, where she supervised hundreds of arbitration proceedings with parties from all over the world involving a wide range of sectors and legal issues. Valentine Chessa also acts as arbitrator and has been involved in numerous arbitration proceedings as administrative secretary of Alexis Mourre, the current president of the ICC International Court.
Valentine has been co-chair of ArbIt for 2017-2018, and a board member of ArbitralWomen for 2017-2019. She is one of the reporters for France of the Institute for Transnational Arbitration.
