Biography

Formerly the co-head of the global private client group for one of the largest international law firms, and with over 23 years of experience, 10 of which based in Asia, Todd represents companies, partnerships, and private clients from North and South Asia, along with Europe, the Middle East, and North and Latin America, with respect to their international business and investment activities.

Todd regularly advises family and closely held businesses, funds and other enterprises, as well as high-net-worth owners and their trusts, foundations and family offices on a wide variety of international tax and business matters. These matters have ranged from start-up and investment planning to advising on acquisitions, mergers, joint ventures and divestitures to structuring pre-IPOs and other monetisation and funding events to succession and exit planning. With over two decades of transactional experience, as well as first chair and general counsel litigation and controversy experience, Todd offers his clients bespoke advice on tax-related business, investment and governance/fiduciary matters from structuring and planning through implementation. He also represents fiduciaries and beneficiaries in the administration of trusts and probate estates, as well as tax-exempt organisations in matters related to their tax-exempt status; planned gifts from their donors; and the protection and growth of their endowments.

Todd is a member of the executive committee for the Hong Kong branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP). He has also served as the US national reporter for the International Fiscal Association and as founding chair of a US branch of STEP.
