Dr Tim Schaper is an of counsel at Norton Rose Fulbright LLP, based in the firm’s Hamburg office.
Tim advises clients on German and European competition law. He focuses on international merger control filings and on contentious antitrust law cases. His practice comprises internal and external antitrust law investigations.
He has vast experience in advising clients on the structuring of cooperations with competitors in digital as well as in classical industries.
In recent years, Tim worked on a number of high-profile cartel investigations, including cases in the agricultural wholesale, plastic chemicals and automotive car parts sector. He further advised clients on a number of complex merger control cases before the European Commission and the German Federal Cartel Office, eg German insurance companies setting up a joint venture, Samsung SDI on its acquisition of Magna’s automotive li-ion battery business and thyssenkrupp on the divestment of its stainless steel business.
Tim studied at the Universities of Goettingen and Leiden (Netherlands). He holds a doctoral degree from the University of Goettingen. Before joining Norton Rose Fulbright, Tim worked for other international law firms in Düsseldorf and Hamburg.
Tim regularly publishes articles on competition law (ie in one of the leading German online compliance newsletters Newsdienst Compliance). He has been a co-author of the chapter for Germany in Getting the Deal Through – Pharmaceutical Antitrust.
Tim is a member of the German Association for the Study of Antitrust Law.
