Tae Uk Kang excels in IP and data protection disputes, and is distinguished by his prolific background including five years as a judge.
Tae Uk Kang is the head of BKL’s Data Protection Practice Team at Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (“BKL”) in Seoul, Korea. And he is also a partner of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. Prior to joining BKL in March 2007, he worked as a judge for 5 years.
Mr. Kang not only provides the advisory service but practices in civil and/or criminal litigation area regarding data protection, intellectual property disputes, and all legal matters related to the internet-service providers such as e-commerce and online game industry.
He has advised many Koran conglomerate groups such as Samsung, LG, SK and multinational companies including Spotify, Twitter, Philips Morris on diverse data protection issues and personal information protection compliance issues. He also advises many companies in e-commerce, consumer goods, pharmaceutical, and gaming industries responding to the investigations by Personal Information Protection Commission, Korea Communication Commission, etc., and in data protection related civil/criminal disputes.
In addition, Tae Uk frequently advises the Personal Information Protection Commission, Korea Internet & Security Agency and serves as a member of several expert/advisory committees related to data practice areas including Content Dispute Resolution Committee, Interpretation of Personal Information Protection Laws for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety and the Korea Communication Commission. Tae Uk was awarded The Data Privacy Lawyer of the Year by the Asia Legal Awards 2020.Tae Uk is a member of the New York Bar as well as Korean and Seoul Bar.
