Stuart Breen is widely considered a “bright and excellent lawyer” thanks to his deep knowledge of regulatory compliance in the mining sector.
Stuart is the head of the corporate finance and securities group at Lawson Lundell LLP. He has acted for Canadian and international clients in a wide variety of transactions, including financings, business combinations or takeovers, acquisitions and stock exchange listings. He also advises clients on corporate and securities regulatory compliance issues and corporate governance matters.
Stuart has extensive experience in acting for clients involved in the mining industry, including advising on and completing commercial transactions such as joint ventures, option/earn-ins, royalties and metal streams, strategic investments and asset acquisitions. He regularly provides advice on the unique continuous disclosure requirements of companies in the mining industry.
Stuart is recognised by WWL: Mining; Lexpert Guide to the Leading US/Canada Cross-Border Corporate Lawyers in Canada, as a lawyer to watch; and Best Lawyers in Canada, for mining and M&A law. Stuart is a member of the Rocky Mountain Mineral Law Foundation, the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia, and the Prospectors and Developers Association of Canada.
Stuart attended the University of British Columbia. He is called to the British Columbia Bar (2001). He frequently writes and presents on topics related to capital markets and mining law.
