Biography

Simon Tolson is Senior Partner at the UK’s largest specialist construction and energy law firm, Fenwick Elliott LLP.

Simon is a Solicitor, Chartered Arbitrator, Registered Adjudicator, CEDR trained Mediator and Past Chairman of the Technology and Construction Solicitors’ Association, a role he held between 2010 – 2015, in that time he championed the TeCSA e-Disclosure Protocol and Pre – Action Protocol revision in 2015 and consulted on government legislation affecting construction and TCC Guide and more. Simon is currently Honorary President of TeCSA.  

Simon is a recognised authority on dispute resolution within the industry. He specialises in all major forms of dispute resolution in construction and engineering disputes including litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation.

With over 30 years’ post-qualification experience, Simon is ranked amongst the top construction solicitors in expert legal guides and directories.  Simon is a Committee Member of the Society of Construction Arbitrators, Member Society of Construction Law, Member of the Society of Computers and the Law;  Liveryman of Worshipful Company of Arbitrators, Member  of the Arbitration Club – Court Branch; Fellow of Faculty of Building, Member of the DBRF.

Simon is experienced in all main industry contracts, such as JCT, NEC, IChemE, ICE, FIDIC, FCEC and GC/Works, as well as numerous bespoke forms based on derivatives of these. He has a keen interest in renewables technology and legal tech and owns two small power stations.
