Seung-Hyeon (Alex) Kim is a senior foreign attorney (New York) whose areas of practice include review of international construction contract, contract management, and related claims and arbitrations, and he also advises Korean corporate clients on outbound PPP projects.
Mr. Kim served as in-house counsel for both Samsung CNT and Hanwha Engineering and Construction Corporation for several years where he gained practical experience in international construction contract and disputes. He published a number of papers on international construction contract and arbitration and is deemed specializing in international contract with strong theoretical background and hands-on experience. His book "International Construction Contracts: Law and Practice (Pakyoungsa, 2015)" is recommended as a must-read book for international construction contract practice, and its revised edition was published in 2019. Mr. Kim has handled various arbitration cases involving SIAC, ICC, UNCITRAL, KCAB and other various arbitral bodies. He has begun to serve as an arbitrator at the KCAB.Mr. Kim earned his LL.B. from Seoul National University and LL.M. from University of Washington Law School and was admitted to the New York bar. He also earned his M.A. in trade from Sungkyunkwan University and LL.D. in international trade law from Seoul National University. He has recently been to Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law, Hamburg, as a visiting scholar.
