Sergio Mannheimer is a seasoned attorney with an established practice of almost 40 years in litigation and over 20 years of experience in national and international arbitration.
The head of Mannheimer, Perez e Lyra Advogados’ Rio de Janeiro office, Sergio has worked on many of the most important disputes in Brazil in the last years, related to matters of commercial and corporate law, contracts, civil liability, administrative law, corporate restructuring and bankruptcy, and insurance and reinsurance, among others.
Sergio holds a bachelor’s degree in law from the Rio de Janeiro State University, and an LLM from the Heidelberg School of Law.
Sergio was a public attorney for the State of Rio de Janeiro for 30 years.
He is the co-author of the books New Themes on Arbitration and General Theory of Arbitration. Sergio was also the editor of volume XVIII of the Rio de Janeiro State’s Solicitors’ Law Journal on Arbitration Law and volume XXVI of the Rio de Janeiro State’s Solicitors’ Law Journal on Arbitration in the Public Sector. He is the author of more than 30 articles on civil law, administrative law and arbitration in national and international publications.
Sergio was a lecturer at the School of the Public Prosecutors’ Office, the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and the School for Judges of the State of Rio de Janeiro.
He is a member of the International Bar Association and of the ICC Brazil Arbitration and Mediation Commission. He is proficient in English, German, French and Portuguese.
Sergio also acts as an arbitrator, and is included in the lists of Brazilian arbitral institutions.
