Seong Hoon (Sean) Yi is the Chair of the M&A/Corporate Group at KL Partners. His practice focuses on representing domestic and foreign clients in M&A transactions.
Mr. Yi is widely recognized as one of the leading M&A practitioners in Korea, particularly in the increasingly growing area of private equity transactions. Based on his leadership and reputation in the Korean M&A market, KL Partners has quickly become one of the leading firms in Korea in representing private equity firms with their investments in Korea, including leading domestic private equity firms.
Based on his involvement in numerous high-profile transactions, Mr. Yi is consistently ranked in leading individual by Chambers & Partners and Legal500 in Corporate/M&A – South Korea.
Mr. Yi was also named as one of the 5 finalists across all practice areas for “Dealmaker of the Year” by Asian Legal Business for 2018 and his team was also ranked in Tier 2 for Corporate/M&A ranking in Asian Legal Business – South Korea for 2020.
Not only is Mr. Yi exceptionally known for his work as an attorney, but he continues to build up the Korean legal community with his M&A and Patent Dispute-related seminars hosted by Thomson Reuters, and he also a professor at Yonsei University law school giving his lectures on ‘M&A practice’.
Prior to joining KL Partners, Mr. Yi was the Co-Chair of the Corporate Group at Shin & Kim. Mr. Yi is the member of both Korean bar association (2000) and American bar association (2006). Mr. Yi speaks Korean and English.
