Mr Widdowson specialises in the provision of live project support and advice, the analysis and compilation of forensic claim submissions, and the preparation and provision of expert opinion in relation to construction disputes, which typically involve assessments relating to time-related delays, contract administration, construction logistics, construction methodology, construction strategy and risk management.
Mr Widdowson has over 20 years’ professional experience in building and construction, transportation, oil and gas, process plants, utilities, land reclamation and infrastructure projects.
Mr Widdowson has extensive live project experience, which was acquired working with contractors over a period of over 10 years’ in the United Kingdom, he then relocated in 2010 to the Middle East to advise and assist both clients and contractors on international projects, before relocating to Asia in 2014, where he has developed extensive dispute, claims and expert witness related experience in a variety of contexts. He has also been involved in engagements related to the assessment of insurance claims and the review of project controls.
Mr Widdowson has been appointed as an independent expert and tribunal appointed expert on matters of planning and delay in international arbitrations under ICC, DIAC and SIAC rules. He has testified under cross-examination and has experience in expert witness conferencing or hot-tubbing.
Mr Widdowson is a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, holds a Master of Laws in construction law and arbitration, and a Bachelor of Science in construction management.
