Sameer Sattar is the leading lawyer in Bangladesh with a specific interest in commercial advisory work and transactions. He is ranked in band 1 by Chambers & Partners: Asia Pacific (2019) and is also recommended by The Legal 500. He is an advocate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court and is a well-known dispute resolution and litigation expert.

In Bangladesh, Barrister Sattar's practice primarily involves corporate and commercial matters which include, inter alia, mergers and acquisitions of companies, joint ventures, foreign investment and project financing. During his time in London, Barrister Sattar worked with leading international law firms such as Latham & Watkins, Debevoise & Plimpton. 

Barrister Sattar also focuses on employment laws in Bangladesh and frequently advises local and foreign companies on employment agreements, non-compete non-solicitation and restraint of trade issues. Some recent examples include: advising one of the world’s largest IT company (US-based) in relation to the termination of its employees in Bangladesh; advising leading infrastructure and garment companies on their HR policies; advising leading Norwegian and UK-based retail companies on employment issues in Bangladesh; and advising other leading companies on retrenchment and redundancies. Barrister Sattar is the sole country representative for Bangladesh in the Employment Law Alliance (ELA), which is the world's largest network of labour and employment lawyers.

Sattar was also nominated and chosen by the US government and the European Union for their leadership visiting programmes and was director of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce. Sattar has been designated to the World Bank's ICSID panel of arbitrators and conciliators by the government of Bangladesh in recognition of his outstanding practice.

Some recent examples include advising the shareholders in Nuvista Pharma (formerly Organon) in relation to their share sale in Bangladesh – which is the largest acquisition in the country’s pharmaceutical sector; advising a leading listed RMG company in relation to the share purchase of an EPZ company with foreign shareholders; advising a conglomerate to merge with its subsidiaries through a scheme of amalgamation; advising a local company in relation to a put option transaction initiated by a DFI (Development Finance Institution); advising another RMG company in relation to a complex asset purchase transaction and advising regularly on joint venture matters.
