Romy Comiter is a managing director within FTI Consulting’s global insurance services practice in the EMEA region. She is based in London and has provided advisory services to the general insurance market for more than 30 years. Romy has developed an expertise in mass tort claims including asbestos, environmental contamination and various health hazard losses.
Ms Comiter has served as an expert witness at deposition and trial in both the US and UK and has spoken at numerous conferences relating to matters involving the assessment and allocation of mass tort claims; the valuation and timing of insurers’ potential liability; the impact various insurance settlement agreements have on other insurers; analysis of defence costs; and the completeness and accuracy of underlying claim data. She has extensive experience in performing complex quantitative analyses based on the consolidation and verification of claim and cost information from disparate sources.
In addition to litigation work, she has provided expertise related to portfolio transfers, settlements, commutations and reinsurance recoveries for both direct and inward reinsurance. She has also served as the independent vote reviewer on a solvent scheme of arrangement in the UK.
