Ricardo Rozas is founder partner in the firm and chair of its insurance, reinsurance and transport practice group. He specialises in marine and non-marine insurance and reinsurance topics, including assisting the global reinsurance market on a regular basis and in some of the biggest cases of Chile's insurance history. He advises in all related areas, including, but not limited to, policy coverage advice; liability defence and assessment; wordings/policy structures; and advice relating to the Chilean compulsory adjustment procedure and the Chilean regulator. He also focuses on the industrial sector in respect of property/business interruption and liability covers, and has broad experience in a variety of complex disputes and litigation with both local and international dimensions. In addition, he is well experienced in all aspect of transportation, including charterparties, bills of lading, cargo claims, admiralty law, pollution, personal injuries, ship finance, arrest of vessels, international trade and related conflict resolution.
He is a past chair of the maritime and land transport committee of the International Bar Association (IBA) (2015–2016), and a member of the IBA insurance committee; the International Association of Insurance Law; and the Chilean Maritime Law and Bar Associations. Mr Rozas graduated from the Catholic University of Chile School of Law (LLB) and Southampton University (LLM). He authored the Chile chapters of Getting the Deal Through – Insurance & Reinsurance Litigation, The Insurance and Reinsurance Law and The International Comparative Legal Guide to Insurance & Reinsurance (2012), and the insurance section of Doing Business in Chile (first edition) published by the Chilean-British Chamber (2007).
