René is counsel in Allen & Overy’s Hamburg office. He advises on all aspects of German and EU competition law. He represents clients across all sectors, and in particular, consumer electronics, media, technology, retail, food, life sciences, real estate and shipping. He has a specific interest in the economics of competition law and regularly publishes articles in competition law journals.
A focus of René’s practice is competition litigation. He represents clients seeking judicial review against the decisions of competition authorities and in private enforcement actions, with particular expertise in follow-on actions brought by customers of cartelised goods, preliminary injunction cases, disputes concerning the legality of anti-competitive restraints in distribution contracts and joint ventures. His extensive experience covers both the pre-trial (negotiation) stage and representation in court.
