Rebeca E. Mosquera is an associate in the litigation and international arbitration group at Akerman LLP in New York and Miami. She is a dual-qualified lawyer in New York and the Republic of Panama.
Rebeca’s practice focuses on a variety of cross-border disputes involving sovereigns and companies in Europe and the Americas. She serves as an arbitrator and represents states, entities and individuals in international commercial and investment arbitration disputes under the AAA, ICDR, ICC, UNCITRAL, ICSID, and ad hoc rules. Rebeca is also an active counsel in matters involving corporate governance, domestic and international contracts, and international trade law.
Rebeca has strong oil and gas industry experience stemming from her work with Royal Dutch Shell, and has ample experience in disputes involving renewable energy, construction, and telecommunication services.
Rebeca is a frequent speaker on topics in international arbitration and the promotion of women in dispute resolution. Her publications have appeared in notable international journals. She also serves as a board member of ArbitralWomen.
In 2019, Rebeca was presented with the Advocates for Human Rights’ 2019 Human Rights Volunteer Award and the American Immigration Lawyers Association’s 2019 Arthur C. Helton Memorial Human Rights Award for her pro-bono work in the representation of one refugee of the "Somali 92" deported in 2017.
