Who's Who Legal Competition: Lawyers

Elizabeth Prewitt’s practice focuses on international cartel and criminal matters, government and internal investigations, and complex litigation. She is a co-chair of Hughes Hubbard’s antitrust practice and a member of its executive committee.

Elizabeth advises clients involved in domestic and cross-border antitrust, fraud and regulatory investigations, and litigation. Previously, she was a trial lawyer for the DOJ's antitrust division and served as an assistant chief. During her 16-year tenure, she led its investigations into rigging of Libor and Forex rates until her appointment as visiting international enforcer to the European Commission. She is a first-chair trial counsel, and two-time recipient of the Attorney General’s Distinguished Service Award and the Assistant Attorney General’s Award.

She has been recommended by leading industry publications, including GCR, Expert Guides, The Legal 500 and Chambers USA, noting that sources describe her as an “expert in antitrust law” and “very smart, very strategic and very user-friendly”.

Elizabeth served as a DOJ-appointed instructor to competition authorities in Europe and Asia, and frequently speaks on topics including cross-border and internal investigations.

She is an active member of the ABA, serving as vice chair of the antitrust law section’s insurance and financial services committee, and the IBA, where she serves on the cartel working group. She is the secretary for the New York City Bar Association’s antitrust and trade regulation committee. Elizabeth was also selected as an American Bar Foundation fellow and a David Rockefeller fellow.

Elizabeth received her JD, cum laude and Order of the Coif, from Loyola Law School, where she contributed to the Law Review. She earned a BA in history, with honours, at Brown University.

WWL says: Elizabeth Prewitt is recognised as "one of the leading cartel lawyers in the US" and is praised for her "deep experience of prosecution matters".
