Biography:

Marie Danis joined August Debouzy in 2009 as a partner after beginning her career at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. She advises French and international clients on international arbitration and business litigation matters, and has extensive experience in post-acquisition disputes. She has also developed a noteworthy expertise in annulment proceedings against awards before French state courts. She also has significant sectoral experience having advised numerous clients in the aeronautical and defence, chemical and pharmaceutical industries. Marie Danis is an active board member of Paris: Home of Arbitration, an association promoting Paris as an international arbitration forum. She played a key role in initiating the Paris Arbitration Week event (www.parisarbitrationweek.com) in 2017 and is still a member of the organisation committee for the 2019 event. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of the French Arbitration Association. She teaches arbitration and legal strategy at the universities of Paris X, Dauphine and Paris Saclay, and at the Paris Bar School.

Marie Danis is ranked in the litigation and arbitration sections of Chambers & Partners Global and Chambers & Partners Europe. She is regarded as an "excellent professional" in the field of arbitration. Marie Danis is also ranked in The Legal 500 in the international arbitration and the litigation sections where she is praised as an “extremely bright” lawyer who “understands foreign clients’ expectations” and is “very proactive and efficient”. The guide also credits her with “a good level of knowledge, experience and analysis enabling her to anticipate certain critical issues and to take the right decision”.
