Olga Hamama is a principle associate in the international arbitration group at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer LLP. She focuses on international commercial arbitration, complex multi-jurisdictional disputes, as well as sports-related matters.

She acts both as counsel and arbitrator. Her experience includes advising clients in connection with disputes according to the DIS, ICC, ICSID, LCIA, SCC, Swiss and VIAC arbitration rules. In addition, Olga has expertise in connection with cross-border recognition and enforcement of arbitral awards and court judgements, as well as obtaining and enforcing interim measures.

Olga is experienced in sports arbitration proceedings concerning commercial and disciplinary matters before CAS, the German Court for Sports Arbitration and the German Motor Racing Association. She is currently handling various sports-related matters.

She joined Freshfields as a trainee in 2008 and has worked in the firm’s Brussels, Frankfurt and Moscow offices. During her traineeship at the District Court of Frankfurt, she was awarded a scholarship from the Institute of East European Law of Kiel University (Germany) for “Foreign Investment Law in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Russia” and represented the German Federal Ministry of Justice as a finalist of the THEMIS competition on International Cooperation in Civil Law Matters.

Olga is a member of the editorial board of the Journal of International Arbitration and served as a co-chair of DIS40, an initiative of the German Institution of Arbitration (DIS), from 2015 to 2018. She is also an active member of Young ICCA and has co-organised several Young ICCA workshops.

She is a frequent speaker and lecturer and is fluent in English, German, Russian and Ukrainian.
