Who's Who Legal Corporate Tax: Advisory

Michel began his career in 1993 at the firm's corporate tax group, before joining Linklaters in 2000 (Paris and London). Following his return to CMS, Michel chaired the tax practice in the New York office from 2002 to 2007. Michel is now with the international tax group in Paris.

Michel advises on international merger and acquisitions, cross-border restructurings, corporate finance and real estate. He is acting for multinationals, funds (including sovereign), financial institutions and on some occasions states in international tax negotiations. Michel also advises high-net-worth individuals including artists and sportmen for international planning. He is also active in litigation and audits.

Michel is a member of the European Commission's Growth 2020 programme, set up by the finance minister for proposing reforms to foster the growth in France. He represents l'Association Française des Fiduciaires for tax matters relating to "fiducies". Michel is also the international organisations liaison (Europe) of the tax committee for the IBA. In addition, Michel is an active member of the American Bar Association, the IBA, the IFA and the Tax Review in New York. 

Michel was the co-reporter for France at the 2010 annual IFA conference on tax treaties and tax avoidance: application of anti-avoidance provisions. He is a former officer of tax committee of the IBA (2010-2011); former co-chair of the international tax committee of the international law committee of the New York State Bar Association (2007); former member of the steering committee - New York branch of the IFA; and former chair of the carbon finance working group of Paris (Europlace).

Michel holds a postgraduate degree in international tax law from the University of Paris XI/HEC. A French native speaker, he is also fluent in English.

Michel regularly writes articles in Tax Note InternationalEuromoney and French publications such as Les Echos. He frequently appears in media and professional publications in France and abroad.   

He was a lecturer on international/European taxation and corporate tax at Paris Dauphine University (1998–2000). 

Michel holds a postgraduate degree in international tax law from the University of Paris XI/HEC.
