Who's Who Legal Australia - Construction

Consistently recognised as a leading barrister in the field of construction litigation and alternative dispute resolution, Jodi brings over 20 years’ legal experience advising and appearing in large-scale construction and engineering disputes. Other core areas in which she practises includes insurance law, commercial law, equity and class actions.

Jodi's experience in construction law has seen her appear in a large number of multimillion-dollar disputes in the Technology and Construction List of the Supreme Court of NSW and the Federal Court of Australia for a range of clients including builders, developers, property owners, government-owned investment companies and multinational and international insurers, as well as architects, certifiers, engineers and valuers. She also regularly appears at appellate level and has appeared in construction cases in the High Court of Australia.

Briefed by some of the most reputable law firms in Australia, Jodi’s role is instrumental in achieving the most effective results for her clients. She regularly leads junior counsel in complex and technically challenging matters in major construction litigation, involving significant sums of money and necessitating a strong command of the expert evidence. Her experience also extends to advising and appearing in lengthy international arbitrations in the Asia-Pacific region. Complementing her practice as an accomplished advocate, Jodi is also a highly skilled negotiator when appearing as counsel at mediations and when acting as mediator.

Prior to being called to the Bar, Jodi practised as a solicitor in the construction department of top-tier law firm Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens Linklaters).

WWL says: Jodi Steele is a highly regarded barrister who stands out for her strong expertise in construction claims and insurance matters.
