Johannes Landbrecht is of counsel at Gabriel Arbitration in Zurich specialising in international arbitration with a focus on energy and IP-related disputes. Before joining Gabriel Arbitration, he worked in highly reputed arbitration practices in Frankfurt/Main, Paris, Geneva, and Singapore. He has acted as counsel (including for several Fortune 500 companies) and secretary to arbitral tribunals in numerous international arbitration proceedings under the rules, inter alia, of the ICC, LCIA, Swiss Chambers, UNCITRAL, DIAC, SCC, VIAC, and WIPO. The subject matters of these proceedings included energy (including gas price revision), private equity, construction, agency, joint venture, post-M&A, and IP disputes. He also advises on all areas of private international law, cross-border litigation, arbitration-related state court proceedings, and enforcement matters. Furthermore, he has significant experience in mediation.

Dr Landbrecht is lecturer at the University of Zurich and the University of Münster in Germany. He graduated from the University of Konstanz (Mag jur, 2006) and the University of London international programmes (LLB, 2011), and he holds a doctorate from the University of Geneva (2012). Dr Landbrecht is a regular speaker at and organizer of conferences and events in the area of dispute resolution around the globe, while also serving as a regional coordinator of DIS40 in Switzerland. He regularly publishes on arbitration and disputes-related topics, acting also as a co-editor of the Swiss Arbitration Association’s ASA Bulletin.

Dr Landbrecht is admitted to the bar in Germany (2008), England & Wales (2014, barrister), and Switzerland (2018). He practises in English, French and German.
