Who's Who Legal Arbitration: Future Leaders - Non-partners

Sara Nadeau-Séguin is a senior associate in the arbitration team of Woods LLP. Her practice focuses on complex international litigations and arbitrations. Before joining Woods, Sara worked for many years in the London and Paris offices in the international arbitration groups of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP and Baker Botts LLP, where she gained extensive experience acting as counsel in complex commercial cross-border litigations and arbitrations, public international law disputes and investor-state arbitrations. She has acted as counsel in both commercial and investment arbitration proceedings relating to the fields of energy (including oil and gas), telecommunications, construction, mining and pharmaceuticals. Sara has experience of both ad hoc and institutional proceedings conducted under the auspices of the rules of the main arbitral institutions (ICC, LCIA, SCC, ICSID, UNCITRAL), and governed by a variety of procedural and substantive laws. She has also acted in matters of public international law, including as counsel for the government of South Sudan in the context of its secession from the Republic of Sudan.

In addition to her experience of contentious matters, Ms Nadeau-Séguin also regularly gives strategic advice in relation to pre-contentious matters, including for the design, negotiation, drafting and implementation of dispute resolution agreements.

Sara has authored many publications on arbitration, and is regularly invited to give conferences. She has also taught international commercial arbitration at Queen Mary University in London. Sara is a member of numerous professional associations, and is also a founding member of the International Arbitration Charity Ball. She speaks English, French and Spanish, and has participated in proceedings in all three languages.

WWL says: Sara Nadeau-Séguin comes highly recommended as “a strong advocate” in arbitration proceedings, who “approaches each issue thoughtfully” and demonstrates “excellent communication of very complex issues and arguments”.
