Cathalijne van der Plas is one of the leading individuals of Florent’s asset recovery and commercial fraud group which represents victims of serious fraud, corruption and other economic crimes around the world. She holds a PhD in private international law and also is a lecturer in private international law at the University of Amsterdam.

Through the nature of the work, the firm’s asset recovery practice has a strong international component. Because of her special expertise on private international law, Cathalijne van der Plas is frequently called in by fellow professionals in order to render opinions or give advice on complex issues concerning the competence of courts, the applicable law and the recognition and enforcement of decisions.

Cathalijne van der Plas is the Dutch representative of ICC’s FraudNet, a global network launched by the ICC in 2004 to provide fraud victims with an all-encompassing service to respond to multi-jurisdictional fraud and maximise asset recovery. Furthermore, she is actively involved in the commission on corporate responsibility and anticorruption of the Dutch branch of ICC. She is also a member of the IBA asset recovery subcommittee, the Dutch Association for Comparative and International Insolvency Law and the Dutch Arbitration Association.

Cathalijne van der Plas gives courses at legal training institutes for professionals, contributes to a number of professional journals and is a speaker at various seminars within the Netherlands and abroad on the topic of asset recovery and related private international law issues. She is co-author of Asset Tracing & Recovery: the FraudNet World Compendium.

Cathalijne van der Plas is listed as a recommended lawyer in The Legal 500.
