Who's Who Legal Competition: Economists

James Harvey is a co-founder and director of Economic Insight. He has over 15 years’ experience advising clients involved in competition and regulatory investigations, covering market studies and investigations, mergers, agreements and abuse of dominance cases. He also has extensive experience of providing expert advice in competition-related commercial litigation, including in relation to the European air cargo and trucks cartels. He has advised companies such as Everything Everywhere, Royal Mail Group, PepsiCo, Tesco, Hutchison Whampoa and Thames Water. He assisted the Japanese steel industry in its successful opposition to the joint venture between BHP Billiton and Rio Tinto, which received the Global Competition Review Matter of the Year award in 2010.

James has a BSc in economics from Cardiff University and an MSc in economics (with distinction) from the University of York. He has published in various journals, including the European Competition Law Review, which he edits. He is also an expert adviser to the UK Bar Standards Board in relation to competition and economics matters.
