Who's Who Legal France - Competition

Nathalie Jalabert Doury is the head of antitrust and competition in the Paris office.

Nathalie has developed an extensive practice in all aspects of competition law at both a national and European level, including: cartels, concerted practices and abuse of dominance, mergers, horizontal and vertical agreements as well as state aids and public procurement.

She is recognised as a leading lawyer by a number of publications and recommended for her "in-depth knowledge of competition proceedings and investigation procedures and strong antitrust and cartel experience" and for "combining legal expertise with the ability to see the big picture" (The Legal 500). Clients say that she "is very tenacious and has good contacts with the authorities, and lots of innovative ideas" (Chambers).

Nathalie has handled a number of complex mergers in very specific industries such as construction products and services, transports, local markets and private equity, thereby developing significant experience in cases involving referrals between the EU Commission and national competition authorities. She also advises a number of clients each year on mergers involving filings across several jurisdictions, using the Mayer Brown network and capabilities and working efficiently with leading law firms elsewhere.

She is a recognised expert in the field of dawn raids, advising companies on the upstream preparation and management of inspections by the European Commission and National Competition Authorities. She has authored a well-known practical guide intended for legal departments on antitrust inspections and she regularly speaks at conferences on this subject.

Her expertise has developed over a period of 20 years advising companies in a number of cartel, resale price maintenance and dominance cases. She has been involved in several high-profile cartel cases including the cement and plasterboard cartel cases, as well as many others in a wide range of industries (packaging, interest rates, construction, air freight, food, etc) and she also regularly appears before the French Competition Authority in bid-rigging investigations and resale price maintenance cases (perhaps most notably, in the luxury products sector). On the dominance side, Nathalie represents leading companies that are investigated by the competition authorities or sued before courts for alleged abuses, and she advises companies holding exclusive or special rights on the parallel development of activities in competitive markets.

In addition, Nathalie dedicates a significant part of her time advising directors on antitrust and anti-corruption compliance issues and delivering tailored trainings at all levels of companies’ organisations. She assists companies in the design and day-to-day operation of voluntary compliance programmes, as well as compliance commitments made towards the French Competition Authority. Nathalie is a member of the Antitrust and Competition Law Compliance Forum; she regularly speaks at international conferences to lobby for a better recognition, by competition authorities around the world, of genuine compliance efforts.

WWL says: Nathalie Jalabert-Doury impresses market sources with her top-tier work advising clients on complex merger control and behavioural matters.
