Biography:

Who's Who Legal UK Bar - Professional Negligence - Juniors

Clare is a leading junior in professional liability and insurance disputes. She has been described as “technically excellent” with “great commercial acumen”, and “a brilliant advocate”. Clare believes in taking a tough but commercial approach to litigation and relishes advocacy in all its forms.

Her professional liability practice mainly consists of high-value and/or high-complexity claims for a wide range of professions. She has acted for lawyers on claims involving everything from the drafting of complex share agreements to the advice given in employment litigation, has particular experience of claims against accountants involving tax schemes and recently appeared for the successful insurance broker in Avondale v Arthur J Gallagher.

A substantial part of Clare’s work is insurance related and, complementing her other main area of practice, advising and acting on cases arising out of professional indemnity policies. She has particular experience of, and interest in, dishonesty issues and has acted for both insurers and insureds on such matters. Clare has twice appeared for the successful insurer in the Supreme Court in the Employers’ Liability Trigger litigation and Impact Funding v AIG.

Clare places great importance on providing her clients with clear and practical advice. She has been described as “a great communicator” who “inspires confidence in the client” and can combine being “down to earth and straightforward” with being “clever and commercial”.

Clare is an editor of Jackson & Powell on Professional Liability and an elected member of the Professional Negligence Bar Association. More information about her practice can be found at www.4newsquare.com/barristers/clare-dixon.

WWL says: Clare Dixon is a “technically outstanding” professional negligence junior who interviewees describe as “very impressive on her feet” and “an excellent strategist”.
