Ian Bagshaw co-leads the firm’s global private equity practice and focuses primarily on financial investors and corporates acquiring from financial investors.

Ian continues to lead and expand the global private equity business at White & Case since joining in January 2014 with 10 associates in London.

Ian’s most recent highlight transactions include advising PPF Group on its acquisition of Telenor’s telecommunications assets in Central & Eastern Europe for €2.8 billion on an enterprise value basis. This is the largest M&A transaction in the CEE telecoms sector and the largest loan syndication in the region since 2011.

He advised Pure Safety in relation to the equity financing of its simultaneous acquisitions of two well-known US fall protection brands, Web Devices and Guardian Fall Protection.

He also advised Play Communications S.A. (Play) and its shareholders, Novator and Olympia, on the €1 billion initial public offering (IPO) of Play on the Warsaw Stock Exchange, which values the company at €4 billion (PLN 16 billion). Play is the largest IPO in the telecommunications sector in Europe since June 2015, and one of the five largest ever Polish IPOs.

Ian advised Bridgepoint on its acquisition of Zenith Group from HgCapital; the acquisition of Contract Vehicles Holdings Limited Group from its shareholders; its disposal of the Nordic Cinema Group to AMC Entertainment; its acquisition of Oasis and also of Quilter & Co and Quilter on the bolt-on acquisition of Cheviot Asset Management. 

He also advised CVC Capital Partners in leading a consortium, including Temasek Holdings and Vatera Healthcare Partners, on their acquisition of a controlling stake in Alvogen; Harbour Energy Limited, the energy investment vehicle managed by EIG Global Energy Partners, on its agreement to lead the US$3 billion acquisition by Chrysaor Holdings Limited of a diversified portfolio of oil and natural gas assets in the North Sea from Shell UK and its affiliates; Mid Europa Partners on the sale of Zabka Polska to funds advised by CVC Capital Partners; its acquisition of the Allegro Group from Naspers Limited; its sale of a Czech solar business Energy 21 to CEE Equity Partners; and its acquisition of Danube Foods Group BV and Clates Holding BV; Bupa on its £835 million acquisition Oasis Healthcare Limited; and Keter Group on the acquisition by BC Partners Limited and the Public Sector Pension Investment Board of a majority stake in the group from the Sagol family.
