Who's Who Legal Private Client: Lawyers

Jérôme Barré is a partner of Franklin Law Firm and leads the wealth tax, and legal and corporate tax practice. He focuses on the interests of private clients and family businesses, both domestic and cross-border. He covers a wide scope of activities including income and wealth tax returns; persons and asset transfers; family; family businesses and assets restructuring; estate planning; family law; and familial governance. Part of his practice is dedicated to tax and estate litigation, inheritance, gift tax planning and trust matters. He also serves as a lecturer in corporate international tax planning at the University of Paris IX-Dauphine; on wealth tax and law at the University of Paris V-Malakoff; and on artworks tax and law at the University of Paris II-Assas (all three in Master II). He is member of the HEC Entrepreneurs jury.

He holds two postgraduates degrees (DESS): in business, corporate and tax law from the University of Paris I-Pantheon-Sorbonne; and in applied tax law from the University of Paris V-Malakoff. He successively worked at AXA Group, Crédit Agricole and Crédit Mutuel Bank as manager of the tax department. Jérôme also served as general counsel and tax and legal managing director of Rothschild & Cie Banque. He then moved to create the private practice working at PriceWaterhouse and developed practices at Arthur Andersen and Ernst & Young before he joined Franklin in 2006. This combination of in-house and law firm experience is of particular added value for his clients.

Jérôme is a member of several organisations, including the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners, the International Academy of Estate and Trust Law, the American Bar Association, the International Bar Association, the American Chamber of Commerce, France Invest and IACF. In 2018 he was appointed member of the board of directors at the French Association of Family Offices.

WWL says: Jérôme Barré is an impressive private client practitioner with extensive experience in tax and estate matters. He is particularly noted as being "very good on domestic matters".
