Alex Schmitt is the senior partner of Bonn & Schmitt. He was born in Luxembourg and admitted to the Bar in 1979 in Brussels, Belgium and in Luxembourg in 1983.
He was educated at the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Belgium (Lic Jur, 1978), the Institute of European Studies, Brussels (Lic Droit Européen, 1980) and Harvard Law School, US (LLM, 1981).
Alex Schmitt has been a member of various committees of experts of the Luxembourg Financial Sector Supervisory Commission (CSSF). He is also on the panel of conciliators and arbitrators of the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes (ICSID).
He is maître de conférences at ULB and teaches at the University of Luxembourg.
Alex Schmitt’s main practice areas are banking and financial law, capital markets and regulation. He has also a broad experience in corporate law.
He speaks English, French, German, Italian and Luxembourgish.
