Who's Who Legal Japan - Corporate Immigration

Masahito Nakai started practising in March 1992 and is widely recognised as one of the leading immigration lawyers in Japan. Masahito has been a lecturer and speaker on immigration law issues on numerous occasions, including at an International Bar Association (IBA) conference, an American law school, Tsukuba University, Nagoya University and foreign Chambers of Commerce in Tokyo. He is the co-author of the Guidebook for International Marriage, a book most of Japanese immigration lawyers retain on their shelves as a useful reference.

Masahito Nakai is a member of the Gyoseishoshi Lawyers Association and the IBA. Furthermore, he founded the Japan Immigration Law Practitioners Association in August 2011 and was a chair of JILPA until July 2018. The association became the largest organisation of Japanese immigration lawyers with over 110 members.

He is currently the managing partner of Nakai Immigration Services LPC, which is well known in Japan’s international community. It has been providing extensive quality services to thousands of corporate clients, including some 500 listed companies around the world, top universities and Tokyo offices of leading foreign law firms. The firm has three offices in Tokyo and Osaka having filed applications every day without cease to local immigration bureau. Its 20 staff members from eight countries worldwide who are capable of communicating in English, German, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, Filipino, Mongolian and Persian languages. Moreover, it has a New York state-registered attorney and has appointed a former director general of Tokyo Immigration Bureau as the special adviser to the firm.

Who's Who Legal Corporate Immigration

Masahito Nakai started practising in March 1992 and is widely recognised as one of the leading immigration lawyers in Japan. Masahito has been a lecturer and speaker on immigration law issues on numerous occasions, including at an International Bar Association (IBA) conference, an American law school, Tsukuba University, Nagoya University and foreign Chambers of Commerce in Tokyo. He is the co-author of the Guidebook for International Marriage, a book most of Japanese immigration lawyers retain on their shelves as a useful reference. He has often been interviewed by English newspapers and magazines whenever immigration problems have occurred, or at the time of law revisions.

Masahito Nakai is a member of the Gyoseishoshi Lawyers Association and the IBA. Furthermore, he has been a chair of the Japan Immigration Law Practitioners Association (JILPA) since it was founded in August 2011. The association initiated a series of intermediate training courses of Japanese immigration laws to over 80 members last year in addition to regular seminars. Immigration lawyers, as well as researchers from universities and HR personnel from corporations, participate in the ImmiKen JILPA workshops to study and discuss immigration law practice of jurisdictions in Japan and other countries.

Masahito Nakai was awarded a Certificate of International Legal Studies by Temple University School of Law, Tokyo Campus in 2002.
