Ken is the managing partner of Banwo & Ighodalo, a leading first-class multi-disciplinary law firm with offices in Lagos and Abuja Nigeria. Ken obtained his law degree from the University of Uyo, and was admitted to the Nigerian Bar in 1991. He has been involved in most of the firm’s energy and natural resources transactions, as well as infrastructure projects.

Ken recently led the team that advised the NNPC/Chevron joint venture in connection with a US$780 million forward sale and financing transaction for the development of liquefied petroleum gas (propane, butanes and pentanes-plus) extracted from natural gas at the Escravos gas processing plant, field & plant condensates and crude oil all produced from the Sonam field lying within OML 91 and the Okan field lying within OML 90. 

Ken is leading  the team presently acting as Onshore Counsel to the NNPC and some of its subsidiaries in connection with its multi-billion dollar financing initiative for the rehabilitation of NNPC’s Port-Harcourt, Kaduna and Warri refineries and supporting pipelines, supply, storage and distribution infrastructure. Ken is also advising Niger Delta Petroleum Resources Limited in relation to its joint venture with Nile Petroleum Corporation, for the phased development of a 10,000bpd refinery project in Paloch, South Sudan. He is also advising Duport Midstream Company Limited in relation to the conceptualisation, establishment and development of a 10,000bpd modular refinery to be situate in Egbokor, Orhionmwon local government area of Edo State, Nigeria.

Ken also routinely advises numerous indigenous oil and gas players on all aspects of the Nigerian oil and gas sector, including Shoreline Natural Resources Limited, ND Western Limited, Oriental Energy Resources Limited, Sahara Group and the Seven Energy Group. 

Ken has extensive experience advising on all aspects of the Nigerian Electricity supply industry. He was actively involved in the Nigerian Power sector reform initiative, and is presently involved in advising on gas utilisation projects as well as solar power projects in Nigeria.

Ken is a notary public for Nigeria, and is the vice chairman of the energy and environment committee of the section of business law of the Nigerian Bar Association. He is also a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators and the Nigerian Gas Association. He has written several articles in leading legal publications and delivered presentations on diverse subjects within his core practice areas.

His hobbies include playing and watching football, reading and travelling.
