Christoph Stadler has been a partner with Hengeler Mueller since 1998. From 2003 to 2006, he was resident in the firm's Brussels office.

Mr Stadler has far-reaching experience in advising foreign and domestic clients from numerous industries in EU and domestic merger control cases. He has also been responsible for coordinating large merger control cases in European and non-European jurisdictions.

Mr Stadler advises large multinational as well as medium-sized clients in cartel investigations and abuse of dominance cases conducted by the European Commission and national competition authorities. For instance, he assisted parties involved in the pre-stressing steel and candle wax cases at EU level, as well as parties involved in several FCO investigations (eg, relating to the confectionery, coffee, flour and retail trade sectors). He also represented RWE in the European Commission's recent abuse of dominance cases in the electricity and gas sectors.

Mr Stadler holds an LLM degree from the University of Michigan and serves on the board of the Association of German-speaking Competition Lawyers. He has published articles and co-authored several books on European and German competition law. He lectured at the Bucerius Law School in Hamburg for several years and is now lecturing at Osnabrück University. Mr Stadler is a frequent speaker at international and domestic competition law conferences.

Hengeler Mueller is widely recognised as a pre-eminent commercial law firm with an enviable corporate client base. Christoph Stadler is one of the partners in Hengeler Mueller's competition team which operates out of Düsseldorf, Frankfurt and Brussels and covers all areas of competition and regulatory matters.

WWL says: Christoph Stadler is a “senior figure” in the German competition arena who is renowned for his expertise in corporate antitrust issues, with deep experience in a number of major merger control cases.
