Poorvi Chothani is the founder and managing partner of LawQuest, an immigration and employment law firm in Mumbai, India. She is also the managing partner of The Law Office of Poorvi Chothani, PLLC, Florida.
Poorvi has an LLM from the University of Pennsylvania. She is registered as an attorney with the New York State Bar; a solicitor in England and Wales; and an advocate with the Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa.
Poorvi is a founding member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Bangkok District Chapter (BDC) and has served on its steering group and committees several times and chaired the BDC's 2017 annual conference. She currently serves on AILA'S DOS liaison committee. She is a founding member, and former co-chair (2014), of the AILA global migration section; she also served as conference chair of the section's global migration forums (2012–2013). Poorvi is vice chair of the American Bar Association’s immigration and naturalisation, and India committees; and committee conference liaison officer at the International Bar Association’s immigration and nationality law committee.
Poorvi is former president of the Indo-American Chamber of Commerce's Western Region (2018–2019), and the American Alumni Association, Mumbai (2008–2010); convener of the Society of Indian Law Firms, Mumbai chapter; and a founding member of the New York State Bar Association's India chapter.
Poorvi writes and speaks extensively on Indian and US immigration. She is the recipient of multiple awards recognising her work, leadership and pro bono initiatives.
