Biography

Pontus Scherp is a founding partner of the dispute specialist law firm Norburg & Scherp Advokatbyrå AB. He specialises in international and domestic arbitration and in commercial litigation before Swedish courts.

He acts as counsel in a wide range of industry sectors and commercial matters, such as share and asset purchase agreements; joint ventures; real estate; construction; distribution agreements; and cases concerning competition and marketing law, infringement of intellectual property rights and trade secrets. He also represents clients before Swedish administrative courts.

Pontus Scherp is a trained arbitrator and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (FCIArb). He serves regularly as arbitrator in international and domestic arbitration proceedings administered by institutions such as the ICC, the SCC in Stockholm and the FAI in Helsinki; and in ad hoc arbitrations. He also represents clients in set aside proceedings concerning arbitration awards. Pontus Scherp also regularly speaks at conferences relating to dispute resolution.

Pontus Scherp is also active in various organisations within the dispute resolution field. He is auditor of the Swedish Arbitration Association, and a member of the ICC Sweden Arbitration Commission and of the ICC task force on the probative value of witnesses.

His training includes CIArb’s diploma in international commercial arbitration in Oxford; CIArb’s award writing programme; the training programme for arbitrators arranged by the SCC and the Swedish Arbitration Association; legal studies at the University of Minnesota Law School, and in Washington; and an LLM from Uppsala University.
