Pierluigi De Biasi is one of Italy's premier private funds specialists, whom peers describe as "an excellent lawyer". He has over 30 years of experience in the full range of private funds matters.
Pierluigi De Biasi is an attorney of more than 30 years standing. He is active in corporate law, on both sides of medium-sized M&A transactions, with a particular focus on private equity and the financial services, on matters such as regulatory issues and derivatives. His clients include corporations and a variety of financial institutions, mostly financial intermediaries and investment funds. After two stints in the Milan offices of US firms, a long period at a boutique he co-founded, and a few years at a prestigious Italian law firm, he joined the long-established and reputable Neapolitan law firm E Morace & Co, a leading name in marine and insurance law. Pierluigi opened the firm’s Milan office, and drove its work in new areas of practice.
He has served as director and/or statutory auditor for a number of companies, both listed and unlisted. In these roles has built real-world experience, and helped to manage corporate law issues that were still in the making.
He taught financial intermediaries law at the University of Siena from 1999 to 2009; was a professor on the merchant banking master’s programme at Carlo Cattaneo University from 2002 to 2016; and now teaches corporate law. He is the author of three books, and around 40 essays published in scholarly law reviews, which deal with corporate, banking and bankruptcy law. He also contributed the “Cars” chapter in a widely read book about James Bond.
