Philippe Chappatte is celebrated by sources for his profound ability when it comes to merger control, behavioural cases and related litigation proceedings.
Philippe is head of the competition group. He is resident in the firm’s London office, but also spends a proportion of his time in Brussels. He is responsible for the running and development of the firm’s global competition practice, including through the Beijing and Hong Kong offices and “Best Friend” firms.
Philippe has extensive experience of both EU and UK competition law with expertise in merger, cartel, behavioural and competition litigation cases in both jurisdictions.
Philippe’s recent highlights include advising: Booking.com on its acquisition of HotelsCombined and on the Competition and Markets Authority’s consumer law investigation into the online accommodation booking sector; Thermo Fisher Scientific on the Phase II review of its proposed acquisition of the electron microscope peripherals business of Roper Technologies Inc (the Gatan business); and INEOS in relation to its PVC joint venture with Solvay, combining Europe's two largest PVC producers.
Philippe is listed as a leading individual by Chambers, The Legal 500 and Who’s Who Legal.
Philippe is the president of the European Competition Lawyers Forum, which is used as a sounding board on policy and practice-related issues by the European Commission’s Competition Directorate General.
