Philippe Bhering is the managing partner of the São Paulo office and the partner responsible for the firm's German desk. His educational background includes an LLM at the Ludwig-Maximilians University in Munich, Germany and he is currently a PhD candidate at the same university. He has worked as a guest researcher at the Max Planck Institute for intellectual property, competition and tax law (October 2009-March 2010), and also as a research assistant at the International Max Planck Research School for Competition and Innovation (January-June 2010) in Munich. Mr Bhering has solid knowledge of European and German trademark and unfair competition matters.

He is a member of a number of associations including the Brazilian Bar Association, the International Trademark Association (INTA), the Association of European Trade Mark Owners (MARQUES), the Brazilian Industrial Property Association (ABPI), where he is a member of the board of directors, the European Community Trademark Association (ECTA), and the German Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (GRUR).
