Paul joined BDO in 2000 and is now national head of private client services at BDO.
He has a varied client base comprising entrepreneurs, entertainers, and both UK and international families. Paul advises on all aspects of his clients’ personal tax affairs including overseeing tax filings both in the UK and abroad, advising on estate planning matters, and generally ensuring his clients optimise their tax position. Paul takes a collaborative approach to working with his clients’ other advisers, while always recognising that ultimately he is advising the client on what is best for them.
Prior to working for BDO, Paul worked first in the banking department, and then in the tax department, of Moore Stephens, and Rawlinson & Hunter. He passed the Chartered Taxation exams in 1997, having qualified as a member of the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners in 1994.
Recognised by Spears magazine as one of the top ten tax accountants in the wealth management industry, Paul is a partner within BDO’s London tax group and advises in respect of all private client tax matters. Paul operates as the client’s main contact but is generally assisted by two other team members.
Through a secondment working for BDO’s tax investigations team, he has a good feel for HMRC’s views and approach on private client matters generally.
BDO has one of the largest private client accountancy teams in the UK and is able to call upon the firm’s wider resources to ensure its clients’ needs are fully catered for. BDO also has an extremely strong international network with offices in over 100 countries.
