Biography

Prof Dr Pascal Hinny is a specialist in the field of national and international tax planning for multinational groups of companies (M&A, restructurings, recapitalisation, financing, relocation, private equity) in Switzerland. He advises regularly on international and domestic transactions including public tender offers and private equity-buy-outs. Pascal Hinny leads the tax practice group of Lenz & Staehelin in Zurich.

Pascal Hinny is a full professor of tax law at the law faculty of the University of Fribourg as well as director of the institute of law and economics (IDÉ) of the University of Fribourg. He is co-editor for international tax law of University of St Gallen tax journal IFF Forum für Steuerrecht (“IFF Forum for Tax Law”). Pascal Hinny is also, on a regular basis, adviser to and member of various expert groups of Swiss governmental bodies.

Pascal Hinny graduated from and completed his doctoral thesis at the University of St Gallen. He obtained an LLM in tax from London School of Economics LSE and is a Swiss certified tax expert. Admitted to the Schaffhausen Bar, Pascal Hinny joined Lenz & Staehelin and became a partner. He speaks German, English and French.

Pascal Hinny is a member of the EXPERTsuisse tax chapter, of the direct tax group of the European Tax Confederation (CFE) in Brussels, as well as the tax group for DACH countries (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), Berlin. He is chairman of the Swiss Association of Tax Law Professors (SATLP); member of the Zurich Bar Association (ZAV), Swiss Bar Association (SAV) and the International Fiscal Association (IFA).
