Xiaoke Zhang is a partner at the Shanghai office of Weiheng Law Firm, a Chinese law firm with over 30 offices in China, and several overseas offices. Mr Zhang sits on the Weiheng Law Firm management board of Shanghai office. He received his LLB degree from Zhejiang University (China), his LLM degree from the University of Nottingham (UK), and his postgraduate diploma in English law from the University of Exeter (UK).
With over 15 years of experience in legal practice, Mr Zhang has gained substantial expertise on environmental issues, and has advised various Chinese and foreign clients as well as international law firms. With an excellent combination of corporate and project experience, Mr Zhang is renowned for advising foreign investors on environmental law issues from both legal and business perspectives, and is one of only a few Chinese lawyers possessing solid legal knowledge and practical experience of climate change matters. Due to the recent boom in the Chinese carbon trading market, Mr Zhang has been proactively advising clients on how to generate and operate green assets in renewable energy projects.
Mr Zhang is a co-founder of the China Environmental Round Table – a think-tank consisting of senior managers from multinational companies, environmental law scholars, and international environmental lawyers. Mr Zhang is an LLM tutor at three universities in China: Shanghai Jiaotong University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology in Wuhan.
