Nicholas was one of the founder members, and in due course Chair, of the Professional Negligence Bar Association, and is a Silk of vast experience, particularly of claims against lawyers and investment (and other financial) professionals. That extends to claims against accountants, notably Harlequin Property (SVG) Ltd v Wilkins Kennedy  4 W.L.R. 30. He has been involved in a number of matters concerned with corporate governance.
It has been said of him (in Chambers & Partners 2019) that he is someone who “produces masterpieces. The work, the detail, the focus that goes into it – it is outstanding; it blows me away.” It is also said that he has “a charming manner, which puts clients at ease”, but he is also a noted cross-examiner.
He is a Deputy High Court Judge, whose authority extends to the Circuit Commercial Court, and a Directions Judge for Bar disciplinary proceedings, an arbitrator, and a CEDR-accredited mediator.
