Luke Bronin to serve as new GC in Office of Governor in Connecticut

Luke Bronin has been selected to serve as general counsel in the Office of the Governor based in Hartford, Connecticut.

Most recently Bronin served as the deputy assistant secretary for terrorist financing and financial crimes at the US department of the treasury based in Washington, DC.

Here he assisted attempts by the government to isolate repressive regimes in Iran and Syria, stop the flow of funds to the Taliban and terrorist groups around the world, and combat international organised crime.

He has also previously served as the senior advisor to the deputy secretary of the US Treasury where included in his role he worked with the council on foreign affairs as an international affairs fellow and from September 2010 to April 2011 he was deployed to Afghanistan during his occupation as an officer in the US Navy Reserve where he was a member of the military’s anti-corruption task force.

Governor Dannel Malloy says he “trusts” that Bronin’s counsel will serve the office well as they continue efforts to make state government more efficient. “Luke brings a diverse range of experience to the Governor’s Office, from fighting illicit finance for the Department of Treasury to his service as an officer in the United States military and his work in one of our country’s largest investment and insurance companies,” he adds.

Commenting on his appointment Bronin said, “Governor Malloy has built an administration that tackles hard problems head-on, with energy, with dedication, and with discipline, and I’m honoured to be joining his team.”

A representative from the US department of the Treasury said that Bronin “contributed greatly to the successful accomplishment of Treasury’s national security mission” and praised him for being the “point man” on challenging issues related to national security.
