Patents 2019: Analysis

This year’s research into the patents space sees 853 individuals highlighted from across 55 jurisdictions around the globe. The practitioners below are highlighted for their expertise on both contentious and transactional matters, with expertise covering a wide range of industry sectors.

European firms continue to feature strongly in our research, with mixture of full-service firms and boutiques vying for the top spot by number of listings. Bird & Bird, Hoyng Rokh Monegier, Powell Gilbert and Hogan Lovells all perform well this year.

In North America, Finnegan Henderson Farabow Garrett & Dunner leads in the market with 10 listings this year. Canadian firms also perform strongly, with Bereskin & Parr leading the pack with seven inclusions in this year’s guide.

In our Asia-Pacific section, international firms do particularly well this year with Bird & Bird, King & Wood Malleson and Allens all receiving multiple listings in our guide.

Methodology

The Global Elite Thought Leaders are those individuals who received the highest number of nominations from peers, corporate counsel and other market sources this year. Our research has identified them as truly outstanding practitioners and the very best in their field.
 
Who's Who Legal does not list law firms, only individual lawyers. The leading firms are those in each region whose listed practitioners received the most total nominations in our research.
