David Goodwin is one of the leading insurance lawyers in the country and provides outstanding advice to clients. Respondents particularly highlight his standout expertise on the policyholder side.

Robin Mayor is “great in the insurance insolvency field”, and “extremely well versed in reinsurance law” according to impressed sources. Her outstanding international practice covers such areas as shipping, hostile takeovers and restructuring.

The “excellent” Martín Argañaraz Luque of ALLENDE & BREA is a “leading lawyer in Argentina on insurance matters” with exceptional experience and knowledge in the area. He has particular expertise on matters surrounding life insurance, cyber risk and civil liability.


STIKEMAN ELLIOTT’s Stuart Carruthers is a “top practitioner” with a “very strong insurance and reinsurance practice”, according to respondents. His practice covers such as areas as acquisitions, licensing and formations of insurers.

At BLAKE CASSELS & GRAYDON, Paul Belanger is “a standout name”, and one of the best insurance lawyers in Canada according to our research this year. He is particularly highlighted for the depth of his expertise in regulatory matters.


LEVITAN SHARON & CO’s Peggy Sharon is an “extremely good” coverage lawyer who assists clients with a range of issues such as professional liability, aviation and D&O claims. She has a strong reputation for handling multi-jurisdictional disputes.


ANDERSON MORI & TOMOTSUNE’s Tomoki Debari is the leading insurance practitioner in Japan in our research this year. He is extensively experienced and highly regarded by sources for his work in transactional matters such as M&A and joint ventures.
