Switzerland: Competition 2018

Marcel Meinhardt is considered a “top partner at the firm and in Swiss competition law”. He has a wealth of experience in the competition field with particular knowledge of related insurance, energy and media issues.
The superb Benoît Merkt is noted by sources for his leading expertise in competition law, particularly in relation to the consumer goods, banking and finance and high-tech industries.
Astrid Waser is described by interviewees as a “very intelligent and bright” lawyer with a wealth of expertise in the field. Her practice covers such areas as procurement law and specific issues relating to regulation within the gas and electricity industry.

HOMBURGER achieves two nominations this year.
Franz Hoffet boasts “great experience” in the competition space and is viewed by sources as “the senior among all competition lawyers in Switzerland”. His extensive practice covers such areas as antitrust litigation and merger control.
Sources praise Marcel Dietrich for his “excellent work and excellent knowledge” when it comes to Swiss and European competition law. He is noted by respondents for being “absolutely reliable and able to deliver high-quality work immediately in critical situations”.

SCHELLENBERG WITTMER's David Mamane is “highly intelligent with an excellent EU competition law background”. His distinguished practice spans telecoms regulation and distribution agreements, and he is recognised for his particular knowledge of the IT 

Jürg Borer at BORER RECHTSANWÄLTE draws praise from sources who consider him “the best competition lawyer in Switzerland” and praise “his great manner with the authorities”. They note, “He is not only an expert in the substantive competition law, but also in the procedural aspects.”

WALDER WYSS’s Reto Jacobs is “an excellent lawyer” according to sources, whose “outstanding” practice provides expert advice on areas such as merger filings and distribution systems.

VISCHER’s Klaus Neff is “a very good lawyer” whose legal advice is of “permanent value in competition law”. He has a wealth of experience in the field, and is known for his excellent work on civil proceedings, multinational merger control issues and compliance investigations.

At PRAGER DREIFUSS Philipp Zurkinden “deserves to be on the list”, according to sources who praise his work in the field and note, “He knows everything there is to know about competition law.”

BÄR & KARRER’s Mani Reinert is “an excellent practitioner” who “really stands out” for his expert handling of competition law issues including implementing compliance programs and merger control filings.

BAKER MCKENZIE’s Boris Wenger is “one of the most important competition lawyers in the market” according to sources, who consider him “particularly impressive in the investigations space”.
