Natascha Tunkel is a counsel at KNOETZL, a leading Austrian law firm specialised in arbitration, litigation, alternative dispute resolution, business crime and corporate crisis management.
Natascha applies over 10 years of experience in the field of complex dispute resolution to her practice. She acts as arbitrator and counsel under the major arbitral rules in disputes arising from a wide array of industries, including technology, life science, energy and engineering. Natascha has a special focus on disputes related to innovative technologies and intellectual property. She also acts as counsel in mediations and – a qualified mediator herself – is notably adept at negotiating acclaimed settlement agreements.
Natascha’s cross-border dispute resolution practice covers Europe with a special focus on the CEE/SEE region. Over the past few years, Natascha has broadened the focus of her practice and has also effectively advised clients in a number of cutting-edge white-collar crime and asset tracing cases. Her multi-disciplinary approach ensures comprehensive handling of disputes and her attention to structure and strategy is an asset in complex commercial cases.
Natascha has a strong academic background having been engaged as lecturer and as research assistant at the department of civil procedure at the law faculty of the University of Vienna for several years. In 2015, Natascha was appointed to the steering committee that drafted the VIAC Mediation Rules. She is currently involved in the working group of the IBA-VIAC-CDRC Mediation Moot Court, and also contributes to the ICC international commercial mediation competition as an expert assessor. Natascha continues to both lecture and write on pertinent issues of procedural law.
Natascha is fluent in German and English with working knowledge of French.
