Mihaela Maravela is a senior partner with LEAUA DAMCALI DEACONU PAUNESCU law firm in Romania.
She is an experienced lawyer in arbitration, acting as counsel under the ICSID Rules, ICC Rules, UNCITRAL Rules and the Rules of the Court of International Commercial Arbitration (CICA) attached to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Romania. Mihaela has also acted as co-arbitrator under the Rules of CICA, Romania.
She is registered as panelist with the WIPO AMC, Geneva for domain name disputes, where she solved more than 70 cases under the UDRP Rules. Mihaela is also listed as practitioner in international arbitration by the Vienna International Arbitral Center.
Mihaela is founding member of the Romanian chapter of Club Español del Arbitraje (CEA).
Mihaela has a broad experience in intellectual property disputes and she coordinates the intellectual property practice of the firm. She also has experience in the area of international financing, syndicated loans, revolving financing facilities, or internal financing, including the corresponding securities.
She has graduated from the faculty of law of Bucharest University (2003) and is a member of the Bucharest Bar Association (2005).
Mihaela was a reader at the Bucharest University Law School, for the class on intellectual property and arbitration on UDRP disputes within the school’s LLM programme international commercial arbitration (from 2015). She publishes in the field of intellectual property and arbitration. She has recently co-authored the book Arbitration in Romania, Wolters Kluwer, 2016, she authored the chapter concerning the solving of internet domain name disputes in the .ro area.
She is fluent in English and an intermediate user of Spanish and German.
