Michelle de de la Guardia is a corporate finance specialist whose expertise in the private client sphere spans trusts and foundations.
Michelle O de de la Guardia works at Icaza, González-Ruiz & Alemán since 1983. In 1993 she became partner of the firm.
She obtained her law degree, from the University Santa Maria La Antigua in Panama (1983) where she authored the thesis “The Nationality of Corporations under Panamanian Law and in Comparative Law” (a publication recommended by the grading jury).
Michelle has over 36 years of experience, concentrating her professional practice in contracts, administrative law, banking law, corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, trusts, Panama trusts, incorporation of corporations, private interest foundations for high end individuals in Panama.
She has also acted as legal counsel for multiple companies and banks in the structuring and issuance of public offering of securities since 1991.
Along her career Michelle has served as partner in charge of the formation and surveillance of Icaza Trust Corporation, a fiduciary wholly owned by the firm, (1996–2009).
She is the legal adviser for several foreign and local banks with respect to regulatory matters, issuance of securities, loans, merger and acquisitions of banks. She also advises broker dealer houses and investment advisers.
She is a member of the Panama Bar Association, a founding member and corporate director of the Panamanian Chapter for Women.
She speaks Spanish and English.
