Michael Corrigan is well versed at dealing with the ACCC, merger clearances and cartel investigations. He also has a strong track record counselling in regulatory investigations.
Michael is a competition law partner in the firm's Sydney office. He assists clients in cross-border merger clearances, litigation, market studies, and cartel and immunity investigations; and he has considerable industry experience in the pharma, media and entertainment, financial services, retail, and agricultural sectors.
Michael also acts for a number of pro bono clients covering a range of commercial and business advice.
In addition to being listed in WWL, Michael has been voted by peers into Best Lawyers: Australia (2020) for competition and litigation. He is regularly ranked in premier international legal directories as a leading lawyer in the area of competition, most recently in The Legal 500: Asia Pacific (2019), Chambers Global (2019) and PLC Which Lawyer? (2019).
His most notable recent work includes advising on competition law issues of patent settlements; immunity matters before the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission; and complex merger reviews.
He has spoken at a number of conferences at the International Competition Network – most recently in February 2020, on assessing digital competition in media transactions. He is a past national chair of the Law Council of Australia’s competition and consumer law committee. Michael is also a member of the antitrust law sections of the American Bar Association and the International Bar Association.
Michael holds a joint Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts degree from the Australian National University, and is a part-time lecturer on the Sydney University postgraduate competition law course.
